I'm noticing about 70 CXPACKET Wait Types in the activity monitor. They never seem to drop away.

We have 4 processors with hyperthreading and parrelism turn on.

Joe Chang made a comment here about that not being so good:

Is that still the case in SQL2005?

CXPACKET: Occurs when trying to synchronize the query processor exchange iterator. You may consider lowering the degree of parallelism if contention on this wait type becomes a problem.

ms-help://MS.SQLCC.v9/MS.SQLSVR.v9.en/tsqlref9/html/568d89ed-2c96-4795-8a0c-2f3e375081da.htm

its very well listed in the SQL 2005 BOL. check more using: sys.dm_os_wait_stats
