We have a table which stores information like credit card No. etc. How we can encypt the column of that table which stores this kind of information.

If you are using SQL server 7, there is an undocument function called PWDENCRYPT. It encrypts the data, however once you do that you will not be able un-encrypt it. You will have to use PWDCOMPARE to see it it is equal to another value.
