Any idea where the actual ssrs reports are stored on the ssrs server?

They are stored in the ReportServer database inside SQL Server.

They are stored in the Catalog table.

What are you trying to do? You should not be querying this data, and the fact that you want to know where they are stored leads me to believe you trying to do something that can be better done in another way.

Then you just simply do the following:
1. Backup the ReportServer database
2. Store the rdl files into source control

Both should be done, and not just one of them. If you have lost an rdl file but still have it in Report Server, then you can export it from Report Server web page.

Just to chime in on this, does all the stuff in the rdl file go into the "content" column of the catalog table?

I'm not sure, but I don't think the format is readable to us.
