My understanding is that when you backup a DB which has full text index, that the full text index is not backed up.

Additionally, using a windows backup, you can not backup open files. i.e. the full text index

Since a full text index can be rebuilt, I suppose you can make an argument for not backing them up. Of course the time it takes to rebuild a full text index may not be trival.

For the sake of illustration we will use a "recovery model" of FULL.

How are full text indexes dealt with during restores?

As a follow-up question, anyone know of any documentation on this topic?
