Yes I should have backed it up. This is a Windows Server 2003 machine with SQL 2005. It is a VM. I needed room to install updates and resized the drive SQL was installed on (system drive). SQL now will not start with a "Device is not ready" error. The ERRORLOG is useless, no info there.

Please HELP!

You mean nothing gets written to the error log at all? How about the windows logs.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
SSIS can be used in a similar way.
