@saikiran - there are many techniques. It is important to differentiate between best practises , optimization and troubleshooting techniques. SQL Server does not exist in its own bubble, it resides on hardware, networks etc, so it is important as a DBA to have a very good understanding of the supporting technologies. There are all types of performance problems , such as badly writtern queries - which require a certain aproach and disk contention issues - which requires a different approach. Are you having a specific problem?
