When adding the Back Up Database Task to a maintenance plan, what are the advantages or pitfalls of selecting multiple databases in a single task? My thought is it could create a drain on server resources. Is this a recommended practice?

When multiple databases are selected, are backups performed simultaneously, or does it wait for one to end before moving on to the next?

I don't use maintenance plans, but I do backup my databases all in one job, one after the other via a script.

Backups are done one after the other in maintenance plans.
