So we have maintenance plans set up on our servers which are supposed ot delete saved backup jobs older than four weeks. The MP's exist and are enabled, but are not doing anything. I did notice that in the settings for the MP, under Misc, the option for DatabaseSelectionType is set to "None".

ought this not be set to "All" or "User" to get rid of things???

Are you talking about a maintenance cleanup task inside a MP?

I did not find settings/misc/databaseselectiontype inside my 2008r2 ssms.

Disregard. The related SQL Agent job was disabled in these cases.
