 Help me with this query

What is wrong with this query ?

select ID from customer WHERE (Family+' '+Name)= 'smith john'

it shows empty column while the opposit query works properly!

SELECT (Family+' '+Name) FROM Customer where ID=8

it shows "Smith John" as answer

check the collation and confirm whether its case sensitive or not as Fred suggested

Thanks for your answering , i got the problem . It has problem with my language because i use non english language for names
