| Dear Experts,I have been monitoring my database growth for the last two weeks.And found that the database has grown by 3 GB in the last two weeks.Current auto growth setting of the data file is auto grow by 1 MB.So, can I change the auto growth setting to auto grow by 3 GB so that I can avoid frequent auto growth events on the database.Thanks,Javeed.mohammad.javeed.ahmed@gmail.com |

| You can set the autogrowth to 3GB, or something else. But ideally what you should do is monitor the growth, and increase the size yourself manually before it needs to autogrow, so it won't have to autogrow. Autogrowth can happen any time, and if it is during the busiest time of the day, that can adversely impact the performance. When you manually increase the size, you have control over when you do it. Leave the allow-autogrowth enabled though, in case there is a spurt of activity and it needs to autogrow.This goes for both the data files and log files. |
