 Modify data while replicating

I would like to replicate data from one database to another and be able to modify the data in the process.
Specifically I want to encrypt the data.
Is there a way to run custom .NET code in the replication process?
Is there any other typical way someone would do something like that apart from building a custom solution to copy data using custom code?
