Hi,

I am trying to install SQL server 2012 and 2014, however I always reach this problem. The error message I always get is

Error installing SQL server Management Services, Could not write value to key\SOFTWARE. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

Error Code: 406

I went to this link to help resolve this issue

http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/913559

however, I could never find out what this is:

For each subkey, follow these steps:
Click the subkey.
Delete the InstanceComponentSet.# string value in the right panel. Notice that # is a number, and the value of this key is {66563AD8-637B-407F-BCA7-0233A16891AB}.

Does anyone experience this, and how they could help me resolve this issue?

Thank you!!!

I login with my username, how do I know
If I am administrator ?

And if I am not, how do I make myself as an
Administrator? So this will solve the problem?

Thanks !!

Under my account name it said Administrator
so that means I am the administrator but I still
can't install the SQL server.

Why is that?
