hi All,
first time i ever travelled was when i was 3, and since then i have done quite some travelling.

However, air travel: Which is reputed to be about the safest in the world still gives me the creeps, every now and then. Though its my favourite way of travelling, contrary to what i said, i luv air travelling.

I dont like the turbulence when it hits the clouds and take off.

My job entails i travel every forth night.

...just seeking everyone's opinion on it

very cool if you ask me... i especially love when you fly into a
pocket of cold air and drop a few hundred meters in an instant
that is especily cool if you fly with a baloon.

Balloon?
never tried that, i have been twice by ship to the UK in 1977.

I hate it when the plane drops, or makes a sharp turn.

I take a lot of trips to our many sites, the thing I dislike is the company tries to save money by flying me to airports like chicago and making me drive to places like wisconsin...why cant i take a direct flight (then again there is a 300 dollar difference)...

Sometimes it is still ok though, you can hit 90 mph on the freeways :)..not a coper in site.

The last major flight was when I flew to france and austria...boy that was fun.
The people are friendly...sometimes the french are hard to work with but thats because I did not know any french which prolly frustrated those red wine drinkers. Austria is beautiful..women included.

I am not afraid of the physical danger of air travel.

My air travel fears are mundane things like:
1. My luggage will never be seen again.
2. The plane will pull away from the gate on time, but set in the take off line for 3 hours.
3. The back of my seat will not lock upright and I will spend the entire flight leaning back.
4. The child in the seat next to me will let out a scream at the top of his lungs every 2 minutes for a 6 hour flight.
5. There will be a 3 hour wait to pick up a rental car.
6. My flight will be delayed on the ground in Chicago while a winter storm coats everything with two inches of ice. My connecting flight will leave before I can get on it, but, by some miracle, my luggage will make the connecting flight.
7. I will get on the wrong airport shuttle bus, and end up at the remote parking lot for airport employees.

I wish I could say I have never experienced these things.

it's a great experience. i reccomend it to all. if you go with a girlfriend it can be very romantic.
when you're at 500 meters with nothing but blue sky around you
a sunset or a sunrise (more likely) is absolutly stunning. add a well timed hug and a kiss
and there's not a woman on the planet that will resist

Wish i could say the same about myself.

1. Turbulence
2. Take off, (esp when the pressure is on, and your have to swallow to clear your ears)
3. When the plane drops
4. When the plane makes a sharp turn
5. When the plane lands and appears the pilot is taking his time to stop
6. Or when there is turbulence and the pilot starts to make an announcement

gives me the creeps at times. Despite my luv for air travel, variety and different countries and expiriences.

After the flight is over, i always say to myself, "that was a lovely exprience, looking forward to the next"

What about bad weather ?

whats your opinion ?

esp, in the air or when it comes to landing.
I remember my trip in jan, the plane that left 3days before us couldnt land for hours 'cause of poor visibility so had to retrun, and there was a backlog of travellers.

Also a few weeks back, there was this terrible rain, that delayed all flights

Its all still part of the chores of air travells ?

"the safest means of travelling"
