As a SQL (GetIt?!) to It's Dead Jim I propose a Twit List - a feature that used to exist on all the Good Bulletin Boards I used to use in the ... errmmm ... 70's, but sadly lacking from Forum software like Snitz

For starters:

http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=69421
http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=68670 Great climax (as at 07/05/2006 : 10:29:46)
http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=68642 Blimey! Yet another ...

http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=61920 All time great!

in fairness, in the first link, the poster wanted to "spit" the values and insert them into the table, you guys "splitted" the string

hmm...do you think the accounts belong to the same person??

I can't believe that I actually told him that 31 minus 1 really is 30.

That guy is a perfect fit for the Twit List. Just the right combination of cluelessness, inflated opinion of himself, and sense of indignant self-entitlement.

The real problem with the Twit List will be keeping it to a reasonable size. We are operating in a target-rich environment.

Edit: Now that I realize how really large this guy it, let me just point out that this was all Kristen's idea.

"Look fine, just keep posting go read this article that article. I will go find the answer somewhere else. I just hope you dont ever need me to answer any qustions on any other forums because the answer is simple 'go read this article'. Frankly it could not be explained any simplier than it already has."

http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=69558 didn't go too badly, but the advice doesn't seem to have been understood, learnt from or adopted, as per:

http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=69915

Darn it! This must be part of it too: http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=69833

Ha! Proof of eligibility: http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=68678

"DECLARE find_dates CURSOR FOR ..."
Madhi et al: "Dont use Cusrsor. Use while loop."
3 days later: "How can i put cursor declaration as dynamic SQL"

And could it possibly be that this is where the Seconds went to that have caused so much discussion in trying to put them back?

Graz: I need a Twit icon in the Active Topics, please, so I don't have to remember who I won't help any more

Allthough I agree with all you are saying and that I too have quite a few laughs going through the ramblings of some people, you should always keep in mind that we have all been there! But I guess perps of getting good at something is the right to mock everybody who sucks at it. All in good fun'eh? Lets just hope I don't post anything really stupid anymore

I don't entirely agree with you ... I think programming is about continuously learning. NOT learning is pretty bad, but as you say its easy to "not get it" initially, but not ATTEMPTING to learn, or being to smug to REALISE the need to learn, is fatal!

All I'm saying is that even though some people seem to be ignorant bastards and totally reluctant to learning anything at all (and some of them are!!), it might just be that they don't understand that they are beeing helped. Take the dude in 69892 for example...I know exactly where he's coming from 'cause I've been there plenty of times but after vigourous efforts by you people he came around after a while and I'm sure he'll act differently the next time he needs help.

And I'm not saying that the regulars here are anything but tremendous help for learners like myself, I'm just not a big fan of making fun of people that are hard learners.

I am proud of myself that i have not yet posted some convoluted, incomprehensible code, for a twit to run, that will eat their database, all backups, and make their hardware burst into flames from shame.
