Finally... was wondering when he will make it to the list.
Thanks for more interesting reference.

Peter,
I never saw you that furious here at SQLTeam ever, even with most stupid twits! It would have been interesting to see how Kristen would have responded to that !!

Furious? Maybe because the "most stupid twits" doesn't know how to remedy their current problem. That's why they ask [sometimes of lazyness, I know].
I don't often post answers in the Administration forums. That's because I haven't done admin for a living in a long time. My knowledge is not to use for the poster. But with algorithms... Now you're talking! There I can contribute.
But with SQLUSA, who claims to be a professional learner/trainer, it's a different ball game. His only goal is to redirect traffic to his site in order to sell more "21-disc education package". BTW, read his response for a review he got here http://sqlforums.windowsitpro.com/web/forum/messageview.aspx?catid=257&threadid=84711&enterthread=y His answers are often not in the same continent!
You, me, and a lot of people here (you know you who are) who contribute a lot in "their fields", I think has a responsibility to give accurate answers. At least a valid pointer in the right direction. The people asking question are relying on the answer they receive. SQLUSA is not interested in helping them. He wants them to buy his 1600 dollar package.
I took same time to browse his "Best practices" yesterday and found several flaws. First he liked the initiative, but later, he wrote he didn't need help.

I completely agree with you!
I feel when anybody posts wrong answers, he/she should personally feel bad. At least, he should have courtesy to accept the mistake and correct it rather than prolonging the debate and covering up already messed-up solution.

Thank you.
Sometimes it is easy to post a wrong answer. 1) Many of us do not speak english as native language. 2) The problem definition is so vague the only thing you can do, is to make an educated guess.
But when wrong, accept it and learn from it. Don't feel bad about it (maybe it is a cultural thing?) if you know you did your best under the current circumstances.
Everybody makes a mistake now and then. You just have to post a better answer next time!

"Another contains an unknown item: perhaps nothing, perhaps a diamond necklace worth $100k, perhaps a dog turd"
What a cracking definition of NULL jezemine
"It would have been interesting to see how Kristen would have responded to that"
Is this the SQL USA Spam thingie? if so I already did:
"I did not find defrag to be useful in production environment. Slow, logged operation."
Totally inaccurate, but I was minding my P's and Q's a bit as it was SQL 2005 and my admin knowledge on that is slight. Tara said he was talking rubbish (my words, not hers!!) so I felt more comfortable at that point.
SQL USA winds up with: "Tara & Kristen,
I am impressed by your knowledge!!!"
Which is unimpressive for a teacher of future DBAs IMHO.
I'm sure you don't want to read it, but if you do: http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=81680
"You, me, and a lot of people here (you know you who are) who contribute a lot in "their fields", I think has a responsibility to give accurate answers. At least a valid pointer in the right direction. The people asking question are relying on the answer they receive."
AbsoBloodyLutely Peso. My view 100%. I can't be right all the time (even thought I secretly know I am ), but what I find out I repeat to newcomers. I hate it when they are given lightweight answers that won't actually get them to realise the enormity of the wrong-turn they are making (I'm speaking mostly about Backup and DR stuff, rather than the efficiency of one query strategy over another!!)
This guy (?) has just arrived and looks like he knows a thing or two.

Graz: I think you should remove all SQL USA's signature link SPAM!
Anyway, this is all far to philosophical. Can normal service be resumed please?!!

I don't like SQLUSA posting statements that are debatable at best to people who may be impressed by his alleged credentials.
In this one he handed down a pronouncement that I felt I could not let go unchallenged. Not that I have strong feeling about it, but I didn’t want to let it go as unchallenged expert consensus. http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=81847 "NULLS are good for nothing!"
Obviously, he is here mainly to shill his training stuff, and doesn’t care any more about the quality of what he posts here than he does about the quality of his training material (judging from the reviews I read).

And if he is from Columbia University, who does he write Carleton University here? I don't know the importance of these two universities. Maybe the Americans can tell?

EDIT: Have read the review now. I feel embarrassed, and sorry, for him. I also can't decide if I should be amused or afraid.

Columbia is a fairly prestigious university on Manhattan in NYC. There's no law against idiots getting a degree from there though. I would be pretty surprised if he's really an instructor there though.
Carleton appears to be in Ottawa, Canada. I have never heard of it before today.

According to this, he is an instructor at Columbia. And no mention of Carleton University...
The link also reveals he has no certification on SQL Server 2005, only SQL Server 2000.

Selected quotes from the review: "...simply the most pathetic excuse for a training series I’ve ever seen in my life. That’s not an exaggeration either. I know for a fact I’ve never seen a training series of any kind that was done as poorly as this one with practically no value whatsoever..."
"I wouldn’t recommend this training to anyone...Seriously, don’t waste your money."
How did he get even half a star?
