========================================== Cursors are useful if you don't know sql. SSIS can be used in a similar way. Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy.
Sorry, but "I was taken on as a DBA not a Developer" doesn't cut it. Surely as a DBA you should know T-SQL?!?
I've always found knowledge of T-SQL helpful for DBA work.

My mom would believe that I'm seriously ill if I would ask for a recipe
No, you're never too old to Yak'n'Roll if you're too young to die. |

My mother prefers to just loan me the cooking books. That reminds me, I have 5 I need to return. Wonder if she's missed them.

I think analogies are fun. My mom asked me once what the difference between RAM and ROM was...and after thinking about it for a minute I told her:
"Imagine that your computer is a kitchen where your counter top is the RAM and the fridge is the ROM. When you want to prepare a meal you take all the ingredients out from the fridge and place it on the counter top. There you can access everything you need to prepare this exact meal very fast, which makes it more efficient than if all the ingredients were in the fridge and had to be taken in and out all the time. When you're done preparing the meal you put all the ingredients back in to fridge for permanent storage, and the counter top is free for other meals."
I thought it was a very good analogy and I've actually used it several times after also :)

Wow! I actually learned a lot from that thread Besides it being very amusing I've never known that leetspeak had another purpose than to save characters in "character limited environments". And another thing; I've always thought that the reason why mostly asians use u(you), 2(two) etc was because their way of writing their own language is more related to the way they speak than to grammar. Is this actually the case or am I way off here...??

Yeah, it's a funny thread. As for your trolls, looks like they're visiting SSC rather. Want them back?

I think the trolls are better off on SSC.
They get a wider audience on SSC, and they get a more intensely hostile reception on SQLTeam, besides being ridiculed on the Twit List.
