All,I signed on to my sql servers and noticed that there is a empty white circle instead of the green triangle or red square. I can run everything fine but when I right click, the option to start or stop the server is grayed out. Again, I can run scripts fine. What can this be? I've never encountered this before.
thanks

That was not what I asked.
Are you a member of the LOCAL ADMINISTRATORS, with permission to start and stop services on the local machine?
