LYNN writes "Hello...

I would like to ask as we all know that Microsoft SQL Server has OLAP as an Analytical Processing.

My questions are :
1. How we can implement the OLAP through web browser by using pivot table in Excel as front end ? I have tried it several times but it can only be seen in my own web browser while others can't. The error message displayed is about the security authentication from times to times. Do we have to write mdx query manually ?

2. SQL Server has so many dts characteristics which are local packages, repository packages, and metadata. But I don't see the special characteristics and difference from three of them. Can you explain them to me shortly related to the implementation.

I will be waiting for your reply...

Thanks before
Lynn"

I can't address your issues directly because we haven't implemented OLAP yet. You might benefit from getting a book on the subject. One I found is http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0764545876/qid=1001969498/sr=1-6/ref=sr_1_7_6/103-9664070-5122200. No idea if it's any good or not.

Are you using SQL 7 Olap services or SQL 2000 Analysis Services?
