I am a newbie to SQL and have to deal with a situation on an old SQL server (2000). I am executing a stored procedure in a database on that server and returning it to our new(er) SQL server (2005). Sometimes, the data I get is not new. For example, I have a lot of parts that are on hold for quality purposes. The lot is cleared on the old server for shipment. On the new server, I execute the stored proceure on the old server to bring back the quality results (a release of the lot for shipment). It still shows the lot as being on hold. After 10-15 minutes, it finally shows the shipment as cleared. The strange thing is that this does not happen all of the time. The query itself is very simple. Look for lot number on old server and bring back status to new server. The lot number is an atypical parameter. It is unlikely that it will be queried more than once in a typical day, except for when the lot is initially on hold, but need to be released.

I hope this is an easy solve!

David

If it's bringing back the wrong data, then the stored proc needs to be investigated. We can't help since you didn't post the code, sample data and expected output. Please provide more info.
