And that's probably not recoverable, SQL 2000 as well to make matters more fun.

How can you 'forget to start SQL Agent' for 5 years?

I'd argue that there is no such thing as a "DBA" that "forgot" to make sure backups are running (and good).

WHY? Someone has to say

Because, I don't want to judge someone until I have walked a mile in their shoes. In a subsequent post, the OP also said this:
quote:
db admin forget to start sql agent to auto back or any other Solution
The OP may be in this situation because of an incompetent DBA. Or, it may be that the OP inherited this database; it could be the 3rd day on a new job; or it could be any number of other things on which s/he had no control over or did not have enough skills.

So, I do feel bad for them.

Aaahhhh!!! Never, never, never, never detach a suspect database, it makes matters worse not better. That situation just went from unlikely to be recoverable to almost certain not to be at all recoverable.

It's like seeing a bad traffic accident. You feel bad for them, but you're really happy it isn't you.

To some, knowing a bit about computers makes it seem like you have magic powers, simply because they don't know what you know :) .

That's got to hurt:
"...I format my system without taking backup of my databse. Now i need my database. Can any one help me..."

At least they didn't physically destroy they drive before deciding they need the database again.

Like Sunita, I have EVERY sympathy for ANY man who asks for help doing his job. All this derision is quite tasteless.

1) why reply to a year old part of the thread?
2) Derision is NOT tasteless when it is deserved. Trust me, i have had my share (quiet Fred!)

The links on this thread are almost all about hopeless situations.

The only help here is a warning to others to make sure that they have backups.

I post a link to this thread whenever I see someone questioning the value of backups.
