I have changed my windows password on my workstation, and the result is that I cannot now access the local databases and services resident on my workstation. I can still access all remote servers, but all attempts to access the local machine have failed. I even changed the password back to the original password, but this has had no effect. Has anyone had any experience similar to this one? I am at a loss for things to try at this point. |

Yes. The error text is 'cannot connect to named server. Additional information: an error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQLServer2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings, SQLServer2005 does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error 40 - could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, error:2) |

The account is the windows domain account I use to logon to the workstation. No, SQLServer and SQLServer Agent are not running, and they cannot be started using the same account credentials used to start and run the browser, analysis services and the full text services, all of which are running. |

Changing the password is not allowed when using the built-in account. When I create an account and password matching my windows account the changes are accepted, but SQL Server will still not start. The error message is 'The request failed or the service did not respond in a timely fashion. Consult the event log or other applicable log for details. The system log references the original error message about remote connections. |

Yes, and interestingly enough, there are no error messages being logged since the initial one. |
