Hi,Iam using sql server 2000. I need to take the backup of present databases and after that i need to restore those databases with some backup files which i have. Can i restore the databases with backup files which are taken from sql server 2005 of same databases. Is it possible ?Please give me guidance in an elaborated manner for taking backups and restoring process of databases when using sql server 2000.Thanks in advance... |

No, you cannot use 2005 backups on 2000.The only way you can do this is to restore to 2005 and then copy the objects you require out to 2000. |

how to take the backup for a database in sql server 2000. I know the process in sql server 2005 i.e., right click on database-->choose tasks-->Backup.... what is the process we follow to take the backup in sql server 2000??? |

From EM, it is exactly the same. Why not try it and see?Or you could always look up the BACKUP DATABASE syntax in BoL (Books Online). |
