this database is being logshipped and working fine

EventViewer Throws this error

18204 :

BackupDiskFile:penMedia: Backup device 'c:\hello.TRN' failed to open. Operating system error = 32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.).

This Error recorded in eventvwr at 3.12.04

this job executes every 10 min at 2min,12min,22min,32min,42min,52min so on

and when i go to jobhistory job is successfull but Run duration is 42 sec.

So job finished at 3.12.42 and eventvwr throws error at 3.12.04

And this thing is happening for last 2 days whenever job takes longer to execute eventvwr thows error.

And to further add my transaction log file is only 90kb in size. some time job finishes in 1 or 2 sec and sometimes it take more than 30sec.

when it takes longer time to finish EventVwr throws error!!!!.

so pls help why eventvwr is not waiting for job to finish ????

Thanks,

NP

Event Viewer is just a log. It's your job schedules that are the problem. I always modify my log shipping jobs so that the copy starts at 00:05 and the restore starts at 00:10. If you do like I do, you should be able to avoid the error. The log shipping maintenance wizard should not choose to start all of them at 00:00, that's just dumb.

Thanks for Reply but on my job is running successfully and it restore the transaction log file also but job finishes at 03:12:45 (hh:mm:ss) and eventvwr shows error at 03:12:04 for restoring same transation log file which job is still executing. So my question if job fails eventvwr can throw error but job is still running and how eventvwr can throw error which is not yet finished.

Correct me if i am wrong

Event Viewer is not throwing an error. It is just a log.
