Hi All

I am running SQL 2000 on my client server, The SQL Agent Job for transaction Log Backup is reporting failure but the back ups do occur just, the clean up task is not working. Its reporting Schedule invoked by user...

Any one has any idea what could be the problem?

Go into the properties of the job step, set it to log output to a text file. After a run that file will have the full error message. Post it here.
What's reported in the history of the job is often cut off.
