Hi I've installed a fresh copy of SQL 2K5 successfully and I want to go in and add a user login as sys admin, but i'm having trouble connecting in either authentication modes (Windows Auth & SQL server Auth). During installation I was not prompted to add user (as you would have expected in SQL 2K8), so i just chose the default "windows authentication"So this is I have in the login screen.Server Type: Database EngineServer Name: localhostAuthentication: Windows AuthenticationI am logged in to the PC as the local admin and username is being resolved as <COMPUTERNAME\local admin>.Error message I get:Cannot connect to localhostAdditional Information - Login failed for 'COMPUTERNAME\local admin'. (Microsoft SQL server, Error:18456)I cant use SQL server Athentication since there are no credentials set for it.Please Help. |

Try to connect to "(local)" instead...it should work? You did add yourself as an administrator right? -> http://goneale.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/sql-install-error.jpg (not my screenshot, just something I googled).- LumbagoIf the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts. Albert Einstein |
