HiI am trying to install 64bit SQL Server 2005 on 64bit Windows 2008 R2 server. I am getting the following error when trying to install SQL Server 2005. Error 29528. The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Installing performance counters. The error is: Access is denied.I have attempted to follow MS articles but havent been able to resolve the problem yet. Also tried disabling UAC, run the setup.exe using domain admin account, and also did "lodctr /R:PerfStringBackup.INI" . Nothing has worked unfortunately. Can someone please assist. |

is this a named instance, where another instance already exists? did you make sure to change the default directories for the binaries and database files? |
