Hi,
I have windows 7 OS in my laptop. Can you please tell me which version of sql server management studio to intall on it and where do I get the setup for it?

you can install sql 2012 or sql 2008 management studio

Free editions of SQL server are called Express edition. You can download 2008 Express here.

You can also try SQL2012, but that may be a pre release version.

If possible , intsall the latest version - this allows greater flecibility in whhat versions you can connect to

yep..thats true
to further clarify with sql 2012 client you can connect to all earlier db versions also like 2008r2,2008 etc
