Hi, Wanted to know is there any way to lock the design view of an rdl file or report so that the user won't be able to see the datasets, queries or designs without deploying or publishing the reports?
By users I mean end users who would be viewing the reports. Suppose I have developed the report in BIDS and have handed it over to the client who would also be using BIDS to view the report(although this is not the rule) without deploying it. In that case, is there any scope to lock the design view such that if the client opens it through BIDS he would only be able to see the preview, while the design view should be locked.
thats not the purpose of BIDS. BIDS is development environment not the viewer. For viewing you should be using report manager or report viewer. For that you need to deploy the reports. In BIDS you can make datasets hidden but still design tab will be there
