Hello Everyone:

I have a table that I need to import data into. In order not to truncate data during the import i have to alter several columns. Once I alter the table the data for a "text" field disappears, even though i did not touch that column. It is the only test field in the table. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

hmm...where you trying to alter column type through the ui rather than through the ALTER TABLE t-sql code?

No UI. Just code. I did nt alter the column type. Just changed the length of several fields, but not the text field in question.

is the attempt to change identity property of column as well in alter? in any case posting the problematic statement would really help!
