Hi,

I am studying for MCSA: SQL Server - Solutions Associate.
Because my work required me to take the "Implementing a Data Warehouse with Microsoft SQL Server 2012" I would like to do that exam first and take the other 2 exams (following) later on. Is it allowed or does Microsoft only allows me to take the exam in sequence.

Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (461)
Administering Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Databases (462)

The certification page does not suggest it and Prometric is letting me schedule an exam. Can someone confirm? I don't want to spend for an exam that becomes invalid because I did not follow the protocol.

Thanks,
SHM

As far as I know all the exams are independent. You just need certain combinations of them to achieve difference levels of certification.

I have MCITP 2005 DBA cert. What exams do I need in order to complete 2012 DBA certification. I went to the MS site but it's too confusing.

They don't even offer a BDA certification. This link tells you what certifications are available and that links to the requirements:

If you can figure it out from there, well..

You could upgrade to MCSE Data Platform, but it mnight be easier to just start from scratch.

First you would have to upgrade to MCITP DBA 2008 (assuming they still offer those tests), then upgrade again to the new 2012 certification.

I would like to know if Microsoft SQL server 2008 certifications still conducted by Microsoft.

Those certifications will be retired in 2014:

http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/mcitp-certification.aspx

They will still count if you earn them, but it may be more practical to focus on the most recent certifications (MCSA, MCSE, MCSM).
