I have sql express edition -

capacity of what? Recommended memory for it or available space? Didnt understand what you're after

For SQL Server 2005 and 2008, the database size limit is 4GB.

For SQL Server 2008 R2 and 2012, the database size limit was increased to 10GB.

You are running SQL Server 2008, so it's 4GB.

You may want to consider using 2008 R2 or 2012 if 4GB isn't enough.
