Can anyone tell me if it is possible to set up a linked server on a SQL2000 server that links to a SQL2012 server? I know it is possible the other way around.

you can do inverse with slight workaround

thanks, but I need a linked server on a SQL2000 server that links to a SQL2012 server, not the other way around.

I dont think thats possible as provider in 2000 will not support 2012 connection
