An more or less precise estimation how large will a db be, given the table structure, index structure....populated with X records.Cheers,Frank |

Books Online has some formulas for estimating size, you can put them together into a script that you can use to do the job. It's still going to be a guess unless all of your columns are fixed length (int, decimal, char, binary, datetime, money) The second you put in varchar, varbinary, text or image columns or make anything nullable it throws it out of whack. |

That's what I'm doing more or less accurate right now. And in most cases I forget to calculate index space... So I thought there must be some software to do this job for me Cheers,Frank |

Not that I'm aware of, but you can probably write one and market it. And deal with less-than-satisfied customers who bitch about your tool being off by a megabyte or two. |
