Good morning everyone! It's a beautiful April 1st here in the USA and I have an important announcement. I've been working on this for the last several months, keeping it very quiet while I secured all the proper trademark rights.

As you have probably seen, despite the fact that there are notices all over the site that this site is dedicated to SQL Server, we still get a fair share of Oracle questions. I have had the "good fortune" to be working with Oracle for the last year and have to admit that I cannot find a forum out there for Oracle questions that is as knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly as this one is for SQL Server. So, in the spirit of the day, and with the belief that immitation is the sincerest form of flattery, allow me to announce the rollout today of OracleTeam found at http://www.OracleTeam.com/

Brett, everything here is working just fine. I'm getting great feedback, too. Must just be an East Coast thing...

Yeah right. Hate to call this an April fool prank Mark, but unless you are Kim Steve, the party's not yet begun for the poor sods using Oracle .

Mark,

I like the site layout. Too bad I don't use Oracle.

Graz oughta start an Oracle corner on SQLTeam.

That's great as the next version of Oracle will probably make sql server redundant. It will run t-sql and on multi-platforms.
Also for it's implementation of the clr it makes row by row operations as efficient as set based so we can forget about sql entirely and code in VB or asp - only need to learn one language for database and front end.
Now if they can automatically normalise we can forget about database design altogether.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.

They'd all be social posts then.

How's db2team.com coming along, Brett?

This is my favorite OracleTeam article:

"Dynamically Creating a WHERE A *= B clause for use in a Cursor"

Very informative !

Jeff you should cut and paste...the syntax is wrong..it's

WHERE A=B(+)

I got an agreement from Rob to post Part 2 of his Trees & Hierarchies article over there, but translated for PL/SQL. Meanwhile I'm putting the finishing touches on my articles:

Upgrading From Oracle 8i to Oracle 10g
Iterating Through Recordsets for Speed and Efficiency
What's After Rownum?
Storing Imaages in Databases for Easy Retrieval

and to show a little diversity: The Benefits of Multi-Valued Fields

Mark,

I've written an article on inherent row order in SQL 2000. Interested?

Yeah, but he cheated and used Oracle's CONNECT BY...

which eliminates the to navigate the tree....

and Tara just pasted 3000
