Rajveer writes "hi all,

my query is - can we keep our SQL databases on a NAS BOX ?

as far as my understanding goes - we cant do this bcoz SQL needs Block access for data which a NAS BOX CANNOT DO. Since NAS box is onyl meant for File Level Access.

Any suggestions/corrections - on my email id please

Regards

I doubt that a NAS will work properly for SQL server, but I'd be much more concerned with the performance implications of putting my SQL server datafiles on something that I talk to over a network connection.

Direct attached storage or SAN is the way to go.
