| Hello!I've downloaded msde. While trying to run the following file: setup.exe, I get the following message: "The instance name specified is invalid". Please help. I want to run MSDE. |

| Message Preview Thanks a lot! I made a mistake, running the setup.exe file without the parameters: instance name(in my case, it's "localhost", right? Or something else? How can I know what instance name to set?) and password. The setup runs ok. Now I have another problem. I try to install Buy Spy portal. To do that I'm asked to run aIBuySpySetup.exe file, in order to "configure the web virtual root and install the database for the sample". I'm asked to "choose a database server instance on the local machine, then click configure". | I think you need the developers edition of SQL Server to create the DB's and any security you require on the server, then you can deploy using msde...http://www.microsoft.com/sql/msde/default.asp |

| I've got it or maybe the earlier version of MSDE. DB server is running. But there is still the problem. |

| You will also need to check you have sql security rather than windows security switched on by the looks of it... |
