Well yes, and...In between big projects right now. Workload is lighter than usual. We're ramping up two huge projects shortly, so there'll be plenty of opportunities for other people to post. Tara |

And I ws just going to offer you the chance to pop over to London and let me resign. On a system which abounds with replication, triggers, views, dts, udf's, ...All the things I hateThe hardware has been beefed up in the last year in an effort to make it perform so clusters, san - that was when replication came in to take things off the on-line server.Loads of developers with sysadmin access to all the servers (changing data and structures on subscribers)Poor guy who's bright, keen but not very experienced has been keeping it going - with some now ex-people who were one of those three.First place I've been to where when they say there's no documentation they really do mean there is nothing at all written down about the system.==========================================Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.DTS can be used in a similar way.Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy. |

no cursors?views are actually one of the best things about sql if you use them well. if you have a system in which end users ever might need to do directly access data on the server (i.e., lots of ad-hoc reporting) the security and abstraction layer you can create using views is invaluable. even most stored procs, imho, should reference views rather than tables directly in many systems since redundant sql so often gets written in multiple sp`s.- Jeff |

I keep telling the office hardware folks that we really need a 3D color copier, about the size of a phone booth. If I could just run off about three more of me, I'd stand a fighting chance at whittling down my todo list!-PatP |
