hi Olumide, Basically there are two ways of viewing your data. If you have MS SQL 2000 installed locally, you could connect via Enterprise manager. (thats if your web host allows you)1. Connect to your MS SQL DB via Client network utility2. You could either use Query Analyzer (if you are familiar with T SQL syntax)3. Connect via MS SQL Enterprise manager. to use this option, once you have connectedThe following step-by-step process guides you through setting up Enterprise Manager to properly register and connect to our SQL server so you can remotely manage your database.Steps to Register Server properly 1) Go to Start/Programs/Microsoft SQL Server/Client Network Utility 2) Make sure TCP/IP is in the Enabled list and on top 3) Click on the ALIAS tab 4) Click ADD 5) Enter 'yourdatabasename' for the Alias 6) Select TCP/IP for the Network Library 7) Change Server Name under Connection Parameters to "sqldb.domain.com" (This depends on your server configuration)(use your domain name), Click OK 8) Click OK again to Close Client Network Utility 9) Go to Start/Programs/Microsoft SQL Server/Enterprise Manager 10) Expand Microsoft SQL Servers 11) Right click on SQL Server Group 12) Select New SQL Server Registration 13) Click Next 14) Highlight 'yourdatabasename' Alias and click ADD 15) Click Next 16) Under Connect Using select SQL Server Login, click Next 17) Enter your username 18) Enter your password 19) Click Next, Click Next again, Click Finish, Click Close Try connecting!!!alternatively, ask your host if they have MS SQL web admin, it runs over .net framework.rgds Enjoy !!!! |

| hi Olumide, basically, you didnt say if your MS SQL server was a web hosting company or a remote connection, Reason, is that your web hosting company like mine should give you either direct access to your server via Enterprise Manager or via a web admin like the phpmyAdmin connection. In the first solution given, if you connect via EM, like i did, i would advice you create 2connections (In Client network utility) via TCP/IP, and put your SQL server name in one account and your IP address in the other. So your name resolution works better. I was adviced to use my sql Server hostname which is sqldb.mydomain.com but it used to timeout so i used the IP as my second account and it worked better this way. Creating 2 connections. Right click your MMC console in EM and Register both servers in "NEW SERVER REGISTRATION" Secondly:MS SQL web admin, An admin tool like phpmyadmin, but your server must have the .net framework installed. | Thanks once again. My coy is not a web hosting one. It's one coy in USA that is a hosting a website i'm designing. Now, i want store some data with SQL Server in the site.I now want to know what it's required of me to do b/4 i contact them for the service. From ur advice now, It seems that i just need to tell them to let me know the IP Address of the server that SQL server will be installed, then I will now connect to it using the steps you outlined. Then, i can be able to modify the SQl server objects from my end.Let me know if I'm right. Thanks |

| No,simply ask them for an account and how to connect to the account. There are many ways 2connect via TCP/IP, i have seen different methods from different providers. Am assuming your SQL server is being hosted by them ????rgdsEhioze |
