When I run this:

exec xp_startmail

It says this:

Could not find stored procedure 'xp_startmail'.

Why?

Brenda

If it weren't for you guys, where would I be?

Another question: When I right-click on SQL Server Agent, the Mail Session is grayed out. Anyone know why it would do that? I have a mail profile setup already. Weird huh?

I'm pretty much everything. I am in charge of all the IT stuff. Fun huh? Especially since I don't know much. Anyway, any ideas?

Are you an administrator when logged onto the server? Is the SQLServerAgent and SQLServer services running under the same user? What user is it?

I created an account(SQLAdmin) and I am logged on as that. Then SQLSERVERAGENT and MSSQLSERVER both are set to startup with that account.

Is Outlook set up as the default mail client for your service account?

:) Stop and restart it. The SQL Server mail is setup fine, correct? What service pack of SQL Server are you on?

I have SP3 installed.

I uninstalled Office 2000. I was just thinking of using Outlook Express. I can do that right?

When I uninstalled it, the Mail Session is NOT grayed out anymore. But now when I go to Control Panel, there is no Mail thing in it. Why would that be?

I am sick of this whole mail stuff. I just don't get why it won't work.

Nope, needs to be Outlook as SQL mail needs a mail profile and Outlook express doesnt set one up. Check out this article for some help:

What article? That link didn't work.

I used to have Outlook 2000 on there, and it still wouldn't work, so I don't think it will solve the problem.

SQLTeam software doesn't always display urls correctly. Put semi-colons in the url where you see the spaces in his post.

Its shorthand for "dbo"

master..xp === master.dbo.xp

I am trying to Install install SP1 for Exchange Server, but it says I need to install a hotfix first.

Do you think that is why I am having problems? Because I haven't installed SP1 yet? Would that make me not be able to logon to the MAPI?
