Hey all,Well, after a couple of timed-out seaches, I figured I'd just open a topic to try and find out - do you or don't you?Have you got regularly scheduled reboots for SQL Servers? Specifically SQL 2000 (sp3) on Windows 2000 (sp3), but in general, for you environment as well?Is that "old-school" thinking?CiaO 4 NoW*##* *##* *##* *##* Chaos, Disorder and Panic ... my work is done here! |

Scheduled reboots of SQL Server is not a good idea since you will get a negative performance impact after the reboot occurs until SQL Server regains the memory it needs. I've seen it take a couple of hours to catch up, which is visible using PerfMon. So reboots should only happen when necessary for maintenance like software installations that require reboots or as an emergency.Tara |

No scheduled reboots here either. Reboots for our SQL Server are pretty rare.Michael<Yoda>Use the Search page you must. Find the answer you will.</Yoda> |
