A lot of press is playing here in Jersey on how good the Eagles are.

Sure sign of a Blowout.

Trying to bolster all their hopes.

As a Giants fan, I can't just root for the Eagles...

I'll root for a close game though....

And can you beleive it..I missed the halftime show last year...

Who they got this year?

we had a red sox thread going on earlier with someone (i forget who) who claimed to be a Yankees fan and how they would beat the Sox. Of course, we know what happened. Then the person claimed to be an Eagles fan .... so it is now time for round #2 !

The eagles are a great team, McNabb is a great quarterback, they had a great year. Unfortunately, the Pats are a better team. I think it will be somewhat close, but my prediction is: Pats 27, Eagles 17.

Is this to do with the game of "football" thats played with hands

Wonder if this will kick off the age old debate of SOCCER vs "FOOTBALL" (or whatever it is)

Nope...

There's no debate....

The NFL is the most successful sport venture in the world.

And probably the smartest.

What your footballers are smart, it must be good then cos ours are thick as f**k!!!

By a successful venture i gather you are talking finance.
Most clubs in europe are in debt even Chelsea (£90 million in the red) and they are owned by the Russian billionaire Roman Abromovich. Real Madrid would be bankrupt if the bank foreclosed on them but they cant as most of the banks customers are Real Madrid fans - catch 22

They used to show NFL on a Sat/Sun morning (still show it but different time & channel). I used to watch it to help get the hangover kickstarted but it was only the highlights.

Anyway each to his own

Why how much?

And no, I didn't mean the players.

I mean the league.

It's a HUGE profit maker for the clubs, and they set it up so that any year, any team can compete...even "small" market teams.

It does seem however the Belicheck and the boys in New England have study the Salary Cap rules quite thoroughly.

Hey, Phil Simms had a Pro Bowl year and was forced to retire because of the cap

3. Peyton Manning - 42 mil
4. Michael Jordan - 35 mil <-- even in retirement
5. Shaq - 31.9 mil
6. Kevin Garnett - 29.7 mil

8. David Beckham - 28 mil

But how much of this money (especially Beckham) is from their pretty boy looks rather than sporting prowess - let's be honest here, no matter how good Wayne Rooney gets he's not going to make bucket loads from his looks (and his penchant for Grannies)

I find what Brett says about the NFL's success interesting (and I'm sure he's right) but outside the US it's a minority sport isn't it? Don't get me wrong, I love watching it (preferably the highlights as I doubt I would have time to watch a whole game) and I know there are some small teams around the world but isn't it similar to the status of football and cricket in the US?

Kevin Garnett grew up about 3 minutes from my parents house. Some of my friends used to play pick up games with him (both before and after he started in the NBA)

The Celtics ARE in first place right now, you know! even at 24-24! you gotta love the mediocre Atlantic conference...

now, if you'll exuse me, I have to find that other thread with the "Go Eagles!" guy and revive it ...

Congrats to the Pats!
