I am trying to install msde on my XP pro machine at home.

When running the setup.exe i receive :

"A strong SA password is required for security reasons,
please us the SAPWD switch to supply the same. refer to readme
for more details, setup will now exit."

i have attempted to add the switch from a command line prompt.
can anyone tell me what the exact command line prompt is because i only seem to receive an info box from windows installer detailing the available switches.

Cheers in advance.

Could it be the requirements of "strong password" that you are failing on?

I don't know what is "required" but maybe sufficient length and a combination of caps, lowercase, numeric and punctuation character are "required" ??

I also think this is the problem but am having trouble setting the SA password with a switch or forcing the installation to use a windows password. my windows password meets the suggested password requirements.

i have managed to find the syntax now, but am hitting a message saying the "instance name is invalid", do you have to specify this in the command line as well?
