It would have been a standard courtesy to provide a link to the original thread on SQLTeam.com so that people could read it, especially when he makes such extensive use of quotes. Close to half of the text was from that thread, and he even used it to close his article.

Does anyone have a link to the original thread?

I agree. How about asking him why he didn't?

it is pretty standard for Mr. Pascal to leave out the link to the message threads he references. I have never heard his justification for this, which is kind of surprising because this question comes up almost every time one of his articles (or quotes of the day) originates from sqlteam.

Brett criticized him on that thread for doing that that:
"Hey...look at that...he finally posted the author...but still not the lenk to the post..."

I guess that means there is no point in complaining to him about it.

SQLTEAM good !!!

The debunking factor in that article is extremely low.
He even censored the "damn hangover" part from the original post.

I got the feeling that for some reason he just wanted to quote a certain member on this forum in an article,
and that we will not live to see the day when he links that members weblog.

It's a pity, anyone who doesn't reference the sources is hard to take seriously.
And when I say pity I mean it.

Hey guys, chill!

From what I know about this guy he sounds like a self aggrandising second rate academic who gets his kicks out of winding people up because that means people talk about him which in his eyes may make him more important. Any real analysis of his writing would show lots of fluff and nonsense and little substance (and no - he doesn't have my permission to quote me on any of this without linking to here)

So elwoos, if everyone goes back and deletes all their posts referring to him he'll die of depression?

OK, that's Plan A then ...

I think you are giving the guy credit for more motives than are really there. Lazy is a lot more likely than manipulative and self-aggrandizing.

He probably just had a column due, so he picked a thread off of SQLTeam that he could quote and write a few comments about to tie together into an article. Close to half of it was already written for him, and he just had to fill in a few "profound insights".

Oh, I don't know...he's certainly puts a lot of effort in to finding ways to antagonize people...

You have to give him some credit for that

i've read that thread and it was loonnnnggg and draaagggginnnng...

if this is true Stoad then it explains the following:

1. his grasp of the english language, you being a linguist -
- the "trying to learn english" masking the excellent diction you have

2. your being away for quite sometime

3. naughtiness in invoking such reactions from the members while seemingly not being affected by these "reactions"

BWA-HA-HA!
It was a joke! I hardly know who that Igor is!
As for my absence here; it's really a tough job for me to communicate
with my friends (yes! I count all of you as my friends!) via foreign
language. N-o-t-h-i-n-g more than that.
