Blindman made quote of the week on: dbdebunk

From the EAV thread started by Steve which is on the Laugh or Cry page, (as is the article Steve referred to)
http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=57307

Just thought I'd mention it...

They seem to use us for a lot of quotes, but never feel the need to enter any sort of discussion about them. I hope it makes them feel better about themselves, it certainly doesn't help anyone else.

Anyway, I've done a bit of EAV stuff for flexible storing of document structures. Sometimes it's the best thing for the job.

No but I'm not much into postal. When I play online I generally play 15-20 minute time controls on freechess.org. But mostly I play with adults on Saturday mornings and I run a chess club for kids on Sunday afternoons, plus a couple of games after work during the week.
How'd you know I play chess? Not sure I recall mentioning it, or did you google me?

You are so special.

And it's Blind Dude...for god's sake...

Spirit, you are a regular psychic detective. Nothing gets by you, I guess.

And Brett (alias agent X002548), if you think nobody on dbforums called me a horsed ass, you weren't reading the threads too closely.

Dude,

I think you need to reread the post

I have a GREAT idea.

We should post snippets of code from Mr. Pascal ( or is that Dr. Pascal, or maybe even Rocket Scientist Pascal) out of context.

Because, even though I may agree with a lot of what is said, all he does is for personal gain, and in the same breath try to drag down groups or people that basically have already said the same thing.

oooo...how clever is he! Wait we could get eye-gore and hime in a battle of wit(lessness)

More clever than you competiton I

A battle to the death...I'd pay good money to see that

Recongized BY a horse's ass. OK, I get it now.
I like the idea of starting a site dedicated to quoting him out of context. Very clever.

Now you're scaring me

Actually I think blindman is the the only one that made quote o' the day from sqlteam.
apart from 00Kevin of course.
Do we have any other stars out there that I missed?

Oh, and Brett, who made a whole article !!!
But that was too sad a story, to even dig up the link.

Wow. First you have an executable named after yourself, and now this. Truly we are in the presence of greatness ;-).

You should probably thank all the little people. Especially the the ones from the Lollipop Guild.

The Quote Of The Week would be more interesting if they actually said something about what they disagree with or why they think it is wrong. Even links to articles that “debunk: the quote would make sense, even if it is one of the articles they sell.

As it stands, it seems they want to hold something up to ridicule, without offering an opposing viewpoint. They are actually giving a voice to points of view they disagree with without offering a rebuttal. In effect, they are promoting something they think is wrong by allowing it to stand unchallenged.

I really find this curious for someone as full of opinions as Fabian Pascal. He is certainly not doing this because he is afraid to offend people or hesitates to call them stupid. I find the whole thing puzzling.

The issue at hand is they hate the vendors and software so making a resolution to something they feel is crippled is not easy. I don't disagree with him, he can get annoying as hell, as you can already see but he is a very smart guy. Sure you can yell and bit** all about the guy he does this across various db forums and newsgroups so it is nothing new. The arguments usually end up dirty though with no solution just basically a shut up I'm going to close the comments because this is getting heated. There is one thing I do agree with him on, and thats coming up with new technologies without fixing previous ones, just put three letters together and you've got a new language / application.

His other issue is he likes to nail you from the get go, if you don't say something that he agrees with then expect something. To him it's not making fun of or poking it, he is just angered by the current systems and the issues that they suffer from.

I just get an enjoyment reading how pissed off he really gets :)...I bet he's had a few ulcers!
