hi
when i try to drop a linked server error is showing like"There are still remote logins for the server ".
can anyone help me with the following doubts...
1)how can i set specific username and password for a linked server ie when i click on the linked server in the enterprise manager security tab it should ask for username and password.
2)the linked server when expanded shows tables from all the database in the linked server and not the specific database i have connected.can i set it for a particular database inside the server.
3)can anyone explain what is "DRIVER={SQL Server};" in the provider string

regards
raju

1. After you setup your client network utlity and register your server in EM, choose, always prompt for username and password while connecting

2. Dont really understand, but if its to register a remote server and connect to it, then YES !

3. see www.connectionstrings.com

hope this helps
