Hi Gurus:

I am planning to design a database. Can anyone help me with the tools available for database design?

My colleagues asking me to use ERwin or powerdesigner. Any comments on these tools?

Thanks in advance

Regards
Sachin

"Any comments on these tools"

Pretty heavyweight if you are not familiar with them, or entity modelling in general. Particularly useful if you will have multiple target database brands, or the target brand is not yet known.

powerdesigner all the way. Sybase does a good job of keeping it up to date with new functionality released in the different DB platforms and OO languages. It's the easiest to use and the most powerfull too. Blows Erwin out of the water.

Have not use ERWin but been using Power Designer 9 for sometimes now. Great tool for design and document it.

Powerdesigner is a piece of crap. Take a look at Embarcadero.

Ahhhhh, this is so refreshing. Anyone for a cup of tea?
