Hi all,

I've setup a test maintenance plan thats designed to fail. It just tries to run some rubbish sql.

I've got an Alert that is setup to fire & send a mail when the job above fails.

I can't get the Alert to ever fire though?? The history is always empty & the mail never arrives.

Any ideas?? I've played around with all the settings but just can't get the Alert to kick off.

If i setup the Notification in the Job to send a mail the mail arrive OK.

SQL 2005

Cheers,
Ken

maybe the job didn't fail , usually if a job fails it updates the jobhistory table and job status that it failed

the problem with maintenance plan, you can't really get to see what's happening behind, but if you do want the maintenance plan to fail, change the job owner to a user account and run the plan again, you'll probably get an error for permission
