Gurus on my windows server i have both sql server 2000 and sql server 2005.Recently i uninstalled sql server 2005 and when i logged in on enterprise manager i got his error in sql server 2000. WHat is this error?Beacuase of this error we cannt connect to enterprise manager

Reinstall the 2000 client tools.

Yes tara i am doing it,but it is sayi that i have to put the installation in maintenace mode How do i do that? Regards |

i will tell you the steps 1)run set up 2)sql server 2000 componets 3)install db server 4)upgrade,remove or add componets to an existinf instance of sql server 5)add components to your existing installation 6)then we uncheck every componets except client connectivity and it gives the error you have not selected any componest to install . when i check cliewnt connecttivity i dnt see any component in sub component window

and when in step 4 we create a new instance and install only client tools we get this error
"setup has detected an existing client tool only istallation>please use the maintence mode to add client components"

You need to select Create a new instance of SQL Server, or install Client Tools instead of the upgrade, remove, or add components option.

Then try uninstalling the tools, then reinstall them.

Add Remove programs in Control Panel just like any other uninstallation.

tara there is no explicit option fro client tools for sql 2000 although i can see sql native client for 2005

Did you try googling on the error that you are getting in Enterprise Manager? There is probably an easy fix for it. You didn't post it here, so I can't google it for you (like we usually do for you).

tara i can just see client utility when i log in to my server under sql server 2000. NO enterprise manager no query analyzer nothing?? what is this going on? |

You originally said that you were getting a snap in error from Enterprise Manager. We need to know what the exact error message is in order to help.

I have no idea what you've done. I'm not there to see your system. Can you run isqlw.exe from Start..Run?

Then you didn't uninstall it. So we need to see the error.

this error came yesterday and yesterday i was able to coonect it thru query analyzer but todauy i am nt able to. where do i check the error? Nitin |
