How to reset the SA password, when built in administrator access has been removed?

1. do you have any account with sa privilege? --if yes, use this account
2. are the sql services running in domain account? --if yes, use this account to gain access --if you don't know the password for the service account(s), look for a sql server with the same service account and try to login there, hoping that builtin was not removed
3. if no for 1 & 2, ask for 'professional' help, i think there are services/businesses out there that will help you with this type of problem
or, if you have backups of your databases, reinstall sql server

1. NO 2. Yes. But that doesn't have SA privilege! 3. If I reinstall, then I lose server level objects. DTS, JOBS, LOGINS etc..

2. what are the permissions you provided to the sql service account? 3. i meant backups for all including your system databases

I used MS SQL Server Password unlocker to reset sql password, which is safe and easy to use
