Bill writes "I'm trying to run some performance tests between SQL 7 and 2000. I had SQL 2000 installed on my Windows 2000/SP1 and did the tests I needed with our application. I then uninstalled SQL 2000 and tried to install the DeskTop Edition of SQL 7. It copies the files, get to the point where it tries to start SQL up and then tries to connect to it. It appears that the SQL service never starts, so of course it can't connect. No error messages beyond that. I'm stumped at this point.
